After engineering The Beatles ABBEY ROAD and Pink Floyd s DARK SIDE OF THE MOON (which won him a Grammy) Alan Parsons met Eric Woolfson. Since both of them shared the same interests they decided to take up the then-fashionable concept album format to showcase their talents. They used singers who suited the type of song they had written and the band PILOT formed their session musicians.
In 1976 the duo released their first album titled TALES OF MYSTERY AND IMAGINATION. Inspired by Edgar Allan Poe s literary classic, the album soared to the Top 40 US charts. The group s 1977 record I ROBOT inspired by Issac Asimov, rose to number 9 in America and established a strong fan following in the States.
1978 saw the release of the group s third album PYRAMID followed by EVE (1979), THE TURN OF A FRIENDLY CARD (1980, which spawned the hit Games People Play ) and EYE IN THE SKY (1982) which yielded the hits - Eye In The Sky and Old And Wise (sung by Colin Blunstone of the Zombies).
