Gravity Kills is an industrial rock band rooted in St. Louis, MO. The band started out as a foursome in 1994 when vocalist Jeff Scheel, keyboardist/programmer Doug Firley, guitarist Matt Dudenhoeffer and drummer Kurt Kerns joined forces to write and record the song GUILTY. The song was submitted to KPNT, a local radio station for a compilation CD of St. Louis area artists.
After receiving airplay on the station, GUILTY quickly went to number one due to overwhelming requests. The band continued to write and record songs and subsequently signed with New York-based TVT Records.
The band s first album, self-titled, was released in March of 1996. GUILTY was the obvious choice for a first single and it charted the top
10 at nearly every Modern Rock Radio station in the country. The music video for the song ranked as high as #17 on MTV s active rotation. The first album also produced top 10 singles ENOUGH, DOWN and BLAME. More music videos would soon follow for ENOUGH and BLAME.
